What This Event Is (and Isn’t)

This is not a traditional job fair.

The Hands-On High School Healthcare Career Expo is designed to help students explore a wide range of healthcare careers, connect with professionals who work in the field, and learn about education and training pathways.

The goal is career exploration — not immediate hiring.

Before You Start Visiting Booths

• Review the list of careers represented at the Expo
• Choose a few booths you are most interested in visiting
• Prepare a short introduction with your name, school, and interests
• Dress in clean, comfortable clothing that makes you feel confident
• Silence your phone and stay present during conversations

Professional attire is encouraged but not required — do the best you can with what you have.

Talking With Healthcare Professionals

• Wait your turn if a booth is busy
• Make eye contact, smile, and introduce yourself
• Ask thoughtful questions such as:
– What does a typical day look like?
– What skills are important for this career?
– What education or training is needed?

• Listen carefully and stay engaged
• Always end with a polite “Thank you for your time.”

Respect Time & Purpose

Be mindful of how you use your time at the Expo.

  • Keep conversations focused

  • Move on once your questions are answered

  • Avoid lingering at booths

  • Do not use the event as a social hangout

Vendors are investing their time to support students who are serious about exploring a future in healthcare. Respecting their time helps everyone have a meaningful experience.

After Each Conversation

  • Step aside and write down what you learned

  • Note careers, programs, or pathways you want to explore

  • Keep handouts and notes organized

  • Follow up when appropriate

Taking a few minutes to reflect helps turn conversations into real next steps.
