A Case for Collaboration
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has forecasted nearly 450,000 healthcare employees will be needed by the year 2022 to fill healthcare job openings. With the changing demographics both locally and nationally, health systems, along with a wide-range of healthcare industry employers, will face increased recruiting, staffing, and training challengers in the near future. These challenges will not abate in the foreseeable future.
For these reasons, Southeast Wisconsin's leading healthcare employers united to create a collaborative partnership model to address these growing employment challenges. This collaboration, known as the Center for Healthcare Careers of Southeast Wisconsin (CHCSEW), is a unique, employer-driven workforce development partnership with the primary goal of growing a diverse supply of skilled talent to sustain the ever-changing healthcare industry. CHCSEW focuses on collaborative and innovative solutions to engage, connect and enable individuals to enter into the healthcare field or advance within it. This includes preparing individuals for healthcare roles ranging from service to professional level positions and assuring that they are equipped with the necessary career readiness and technical skills to work and grow in healthcare.
The mission of the CHCSEW is to unite all appropriate stakeholders in a viable, flexible structure to locate, educate and support a workforce from service to professional levels in the healthcare industry in SE Wisconsin with a vision to create a supply of fully skilled and capable individuals prepared to meet the current and future needs of the healthcare field from entry-level to professional skilled-level roles.

Identify public and private funding resources, develop sustainability plan, advise governing body of funds obtained and educate funders on health career workforce development needs.
Advocate Aurora Health
A nationally recognized leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care. Advocate Aurora Health is an integrated, not-for-profit, and all-for-people health care provider serving more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, with 15 hospitals, more than 155 clinics and over 80 community pharmacies.
The region’s only independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. Children’s has two hospital locations in Wisconsin (Milwaukee and Neenah). Children’s Wisconsin partners with neighborhood and community organizations to serve the primary care and dental needs of Milwaukee children with locations that include Downtown Milwaukee and residential Milwaukee area neighborhoods.
Compassionate, personalized care has a new name in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Sheboygan Counties. Columbia St. Mary's is now known as Ascension Wisconsin; Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare is now known as Ascension Wisconsin, Affinity Health System in Fox Valley are now coming together under the Ascension Wisconsin name and Ministry Health Care joined Ascension in 2013 and recently brought hospitals, doctors and clinics together. By uniting under the Ascension Wisconsin name, the hospitals you know and trust are gaining access to even more resources to improve care.
Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin
The only academic medical center in eastern Wisconsin and with its recognition for its dedication to staff is identified among the top 50 Diversity Employers of Choice. The Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin is a regional health care network made up of three hospitals and more than 30 primary and specialty care health centers and clinics throughout Milwaukee, Menomonee Falls and West Bend.
